- 2 tsp olive oil
- 2 pounds ground turkey
- 1 onion finely diced
- 1 tsp garlic
- 1 28 can diced tomatoes
- 3 8oz can tomato sauce
- 3/4 cup chicken broth
- 2 tbsp chili poweder
- 2 tsp cumin
- 2 tsp paprika
- 2 tsp cocoa powder
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 1/2 salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 2 15oz cans kidney beans
- assorted toppings like sour cream or cheese
- Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium high heat. Add the turkey and season with 1 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp pepper. Cook breaking up the meat with a spoon until turkey is browned and cooked through.
- Add the onion to the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes or until softened. Add the garlic an cook for another 30 seconds.
- Place the turkey in the slow cooker along with the tonatoes, tomato sauce, chicken broth, chili powder, cumin, paprika cocoa power, sugar and remaining 1/2 tsp salt.
- Stir to combine, then cook on low for 8 hours. Add the beans and cook for an additional 20 minutes. Add toppings if desired.
